American Education Vs. American Schools - 874 Words

American education system does not compare to other counties. Students are not expected to meet high standards. American students do not possess the communication and computational skills they need today to succeed in college or in the working world. The American school system has no answer to fixing what a continuous problem we face in this country. Schools are overcrowded, lacks the tools and funding to educate our children. Meanwhile in other counties like China, Korea, and other parts of the world thrive on sending our productive individual into this world. I think if you want your child to have a better education either home school them to insure they are receiving the proper education or send them to a foreign country where sure to get an education, because the American school system does not compare to other counties. Eldzier Cortor like many artist of that time left America to study art in different parts of the world. Artist like Augusta Savage, William Johnson, and Alain Locke all studied art in other counties to increase their knowledge different types of art. Feminism in Top Girls and The Handmaids Tale Essay

Both Top Girls and The Handmaid’s Tale relate to contemporary political issues and feminism. Top Girls was written by Caryl Churchill, a political feminist playwright, as a response to Thatcher’s election as a first female British Prime Minister. Churchill was a British social feminist in opposition to Thatcherism. Top Girls was regarded as a unique play about the challenges working women face in the contemporary business world and society at large. Churchill once wrote: ‘Playwrights don’t give answers, they ask questions’, [6] and I think she is proving it in Top Girls: she brings up many tough questions over the course of the play, including what success is and if women’s progress in the workplace has been a good or bad thing.†¦show more content†¦Therefore, in Top Girls there is no release of emotions, no catharsis for the audience. Churchill has also used historicization as another device of the Alienation Theatre. She introduces female historical figures in Act 1, for example, Lady Nijo, a 13th century Japanese courtesan to the Emperor, or Pope Joan, the 9th century female Pope disguised as a man. [2] The author uses historical characters, i.e. women who seemingly have achieved different types of success in different times, to comment on what was actually going on in the end of 20th century and to make the audience see that nothing has changed in women’s situation throughout the years. By contrast, Atwood sets The Handmaid’s Tale in the future: 21st and 22nd centuries, which makes it a sci-fi novel. Nevertheless, the problems she is talking about are all current issues. The critic Barbara Hill Rigney says that ‘for Atwood, writing itself becomes a political act; the writer is always a reporter of the truth, even when her subject is fiction’. Legislative thinkers have an out-going personality, and they can develop good relationships with other people this makes, therefore, legislative thinkers possess good interaction abilities and thus negotiating with the customer will be easy. According to Sternberg and Wagner (1991), legislative thinkers prefer undertaking tasks or situations that require creation and formulation of ideas. This would be a perfect quality while negotiating. This is because one needs to develop good ideas to convince the client. I identified External thinking as my preferred level of thinking. According to Sternberg and Wagner (1991), external thinkers are extroverted and tend to work and relate better with other people while handling situations. External thinkers enjoy taking part in related social activities. They also have confidence while interacting with other people.
